  1. “Missional” is a shorter way of saying “fulfilling-God’s-purpose-ional” or is it spelled “fulfilling-God’s-purpose-in-all”? I’ll need to look it up. I’m not so good at speling.

  2. Missional to mean isn’t just making it look like you follow God, it’s living out what you believe and showing others (without actually telling them to look) what it means to believe in God, even when it’s really rough.

  3. Missional means being Spirit empowered Christ followers as ambassadors of God in the place where you are, exercising a ministry of reconciliation outside the four walls of a building owned by a group of fellow Christ followers.

  4. Missional means living outside myself toward others with the same love I have received of Christ and the community of faith, without concern of gender, ethnicity, age, education, or socioeconomic status, bearing a life and message of spiritual fruitfulness, justice, hope, the ideology of heaven, and most of all, the good God who wishes to be seen, felt, and known.

  5. Missional – “is simply an adjective denoting something that is related to or characterized by mission, or has the qualities, attributes or dynamics of mission.” ~ Chris Wright; particularly our part in living out the mission of God.

  6. Missional is when the goal of mission (to reach the lost) becomes intertwined with your life, such that it ceases to be an activity, and starts to be a lifestyle.

  7. Missional— inviting. Inviting others to come with you, discovering more of Jesus along the way together. Involves building trust, and learning to befriend and really love well those around you….pointing to Jesus through story or parabolic ways as God raises opportunities.

  8. To me; being missional is being sent into the world as Jesus was, being incarnational as Jesus was, being his disciple, doing the stuff he did and saying the kind of things he said, loving people the way he loved them.

  9. Missional in my own church means for me as pastor to be the catalyst between the person and God to ignite first their relationship to their savior by giving their lives to Him and then taking that passion to the community as they win others while growing deeper in their relationship with the Lord. As we serve, we can’t help but grow and as we grow, we will crave service to Him and His mission even more…

  10. Missional means: 1. We know what our mission is, 2. We are thinking of others’ needs over our own comforts, 3. We are thinking of the best ways to serve and connect with people who are different than us. And most importantly, it means we are actually ACTING on all of this thinking.

  11. For me, I believe that the word “missional” is a word to describe our love of spreading Jesus Christ’s love to those who don’t know Him, those who are lost, and even those who know him but are in a dark area in their life. I also believe that missional means exemplifying God through our actions, our words, and our view of life as well as testifying to those who wonder “Who is Jesus?” to expose them to the unconditional love, mercy, and grace that He gives us.

Missional is to bring all of Jesus Christ’s lost sheep back to His herd and back to His love, grace, and mercy.

  12. Missional is recognizing that the church doesn’t have a mission, but God’s mission has a church (anonymous quote). Scripture calls us living stones being built into a spiritual house by Jesus (1 Peter 2:4-5); we’re called to be that house – in our world – God’s living and local presence (1 Pet. 2:12) – as God’s sent community wherever we are on the planet (Acts 11). Each of disciples/worshipers/missionaries.

  13. Misional means we aren’t your grandparents version of the Church. It started as a way for cool kid theologians to rebel against the status quo. Time will tell if it simply isn’t just re-packaging the status quo. I hope it is not. I hope it is a restoration of the biblical model in Acts 2. In about 50 years we will see the missional fruit.
